The webinar by our Executive Committee member Guido Sonnemann, jointly with our member Fritz Balkau, will provide a space to present ways life cycle methodologies and tools can be used to strengthen regional socio-economic planning and development in a more sustainable manner. Sustainable regional development needs the adoption of systematic and long-term criteria for decision-making at different levels, taking into account the full life cycle of raw materials and products, as well as infrastructure projects.

Guido is the author of over 100 publications on LCA and related matters according to Google Scholar. He is full professor in sustainable chemistry at the University of Bordeaux where he leads a research group on LCA. Fritz is an independent advisor for sustainable solutions, with a long experience in this field. Both Guido and Fritz worked for the United Nations Environment Programme.
