At the Business School, the following professorship is to be filled for the summer semester 2025 or later: CZS Endowed Professorship (m/f/d) Resource Efficiency and Sustainable Raw Material Supply.

The professorship is funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation.

Your future area of responsibility:

  • You will conduct research at our Institute for Industrial Ecology within externally funded projects in your field of expertise: Availability of primary and secondary raw materials and the sustainability assessment of resource efficiency and circular economy measures.
  • You maintain contacts with the scientific community and companies in Germany and abroad.
  • You will teach courses in German and English for the degree programs Sustainability and Resource Efficiency, Life Cycle & Sustainability and for the cross-disciplinary department of Quantitative Methods.
  • You are familiar with innovative didactical concepts and approaches and will be engaged to improve curriculum and contents of our study programs.
  • The professorship is permanent position. During the first 5 years, it is funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation to support and to increase research activities and includes a reduced teaching load during this time.

Your profile and qualifications:

  • You have completed a university degree in natural sciences, engineering, business or economics.
  • You have relevant professional experience in the above-mentioned areas of specialization, e.g. in the extraction and processing of mineral raw materials.
  • You provide evidence for recent publications and research activities in the relevant subject area.
  • You show a high level of motivation and commitment for academic teaching, have ideally already demonstrated your teaching skills and would like to work closely with the team at the Institute for Industrial Ecology.
  • In addition, a particular interest in working with the team in the field of Quantitative Methods is also expected.
  • A good command of English and German and the willingness to hold lectures in both languages are expected.

The formal requirements for applicants are a university degree and a Ph.D. or a comparable scientific qualification. A minimum of five years of postgraduate experience is required, of which a minimum of three years must have been gained outside the university.
