The Department of Chemistry is seeking a Research Associate to support an exciting business support initiate focusing on sustainability.

The West of England Sustainable Technologies Scale-up Programme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), partnered with the Centre for Sustainable Technologies and Circular Technologies (CSCT) at the University of Bath and business incubator SETsquared. The programme is designed to support small and medium companies (SMEs) from the West of England LEP region who are innovating with sustainable or low carbon products

About the role:

The primary duties are to plan and conduct research carrying out assessments and in particular carbon savings assessment, technical business development engagement activities and research project development associated with the programme.

A key element of the role is to help facilitate introductions between the SME and the University of Bath. Bringing together academic expertise to cultivate close links with industry to help identify collaborative research opportunities to support the development of new sustainable technologies and assessing carbon savings.

You’ll work with expert academics in the sustainability field, predominately from CSCT, but also other academics at Bath as appropriate, as well as the programme’s project team from the University of Bath and SETsquared.

You will also coordinate and support the integration of the University of Bath student design and research projects into the activities of the programme.

On occasions you may be required to get involved with the programmes networking events.

About you:

Our ideal applicant will be able to:

  • Understands how to conduct carbon saving assessment and research using appropriate research techniques and implementing new research methods
  • Assess carbon savings, and analysing, interpreting, and presenting research data to generate outcomes
  • Create effective working relationships with colleagues and students across the Research Centres, the University and with delivery and business partners of the Programme
  • Effectively manage own workload, research resources and administrative activities
