Vision on Technology for a better world

VITO/EnergyVille endeavours to facilitate the transition to a sustainable built environment, within the context of the energy transition and the circular economy. The built environment team evaluates the environmental impact of construction materials and elements, and buildings, as well as energy technologies and vehicle technologies. We advise industry and authorities about innovative solutions and alternative production and building methods. We are currently seeking an expert in life cycle assessment (LCA) to strengthen our team.

In this role, you will be working on LCA studies that focus on the environmental and the financial/economic impact across the whole life cycle: from the extraction of raw materials to production, transport to the yard, the construction stage, the utilisation stage, end-of-life treatment, recycling and ultimately the final removal (dumping, incineration).
You will be responsible for providing advice primarily to industrial clients within consultancy contracts. You will do this under the supervision of a senior researcher.
You will specifically contribute towards improving the sustainability of companies and authorities, you will acquire and share new knowledge, expand your network and work together with colleagues on projects.

You are responsible for partnerships within national and European consortia, and you will expand your network to include Belgian and European authorities and industrial partners. You will also play a role in the acquisition of projects, and writing tenders and project proposals. Finally, you will make tangible contributions towards the development of innovative tools and solutions that respond to (future) client needs.
