Institute:Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources
Research Group:Industrial Ecology Freiburg
At the group of Industrial Ecology Freiburg, we study the global and future consequences of sustainable development strategies, including renewable energy, material efficiency, biomass use, and many more. We focus on quantitative assessment of the material and energy basis of our society to assist evidence-based policy development and also contribute to the development of methodology for the sustainability assessment of products and lifestyles.
We develop computer models, that combine the established tools material flow analysis (MFA), life cycle assessment (LCA) and input-output analysis (IO), to tackle novel research questions and to assess the long-term and system-wide consequences of specific sustainable development strategies.
