Anne-Marie

Anne-Marie Boulay**

Canada

Anne-Marie Boulay is chemical engineering graduate from McGill University, who later completed a Ph.D. at CIRAIG (Ecole Polytechnique of Montreal) on the assessment of water use impacts in LCA, in collaboration with Quantis Lausanne and ETH Zurich. She received the SETAC Europe LCA young scientist award in 2014 and is the author of over 10 publications on the topic of water footprint and LCA. She is the Canadian chair for ISO TC207/SC5 (LCA-based standards) and actively participated to the drafting of Water Footprint standard (14046) and technical requirements (14073). She is the chair of the WULCA working group on water use in LCA, from the UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative. This working group is currently developing a consensus-based method for water use impact assessment.

Bill Flanagan

USA

Bill Flanagan leads the Ecoassessment Center of Excellence for General Electric Company. The Center was founded to assess the environmental impacts of products throughout their entire lifespan, from raw materials extraction through reuse, recycling, or disposal at the end of product life. Bill is also Chair, Board of Directors, of the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment (ACLCA) and serves on the External Advisory Board for the University of Michigan’s Center for Sustainable Systems. He is a LCA Certified Professional (LCACP). Bill graduated from Virginia Tech in 1985 and received a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Connecticut in 1991.

Chalaka

Chalaka Fernando

Sri Lanka

Chalaka Fernando has graduated from University of Peradeniya in 2003 with BSc(Hons) for Physical Sciences including Environmental Science as a subject. He also holds a Master from the Department Chemical & Process Engineering, University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka. He has followed post graduate certificate courses at the United Nations University (Tokyo, Japan), Technical University Copenhagen (Denmark) and the Central European University (Budapest, Hungary). He has been serving in various capacities in different firms on environmental management & sustainable development for 13 years. He currently holds the position Manager – Environment, Systems Compliance & Product Sustainability at Holcim (Lanka) Ltd. He is also a Doctoral candidate on LCSA study on transport biofuel and pursuing his PhD at the University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka. Chalaka was also instrumental to set up the Sri Lankan LCA network and serves voluntary in the national steering committee and various national projects.

Jodie

Jodie Bricout

Australia

Jodie is the manager for circular economy and life cycle approaches at the French non-for-profit cd2e. An environmental engineer with a flair for communication, Jodie started working in the LCA field in 2010 following 10 years of experience in water and waste management, industrial ecology and sustainability strategy. She launched the [avniR] conference series on life cycle management for SMEs and regions which attracts 300 participants from over 20 countries annually, building on the experience in integrating life cycle approaches across sectors in Northern France. Jodie managed the development of the phase 3 strategy for the UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative, and their communication strategy and is a member of their Board. She represents Northern France in the Ellen MacArthur Foundations CE100 programme for Cities and Governments.

Martina is dedicated to enabling sustainable production. For over 20 years Martina’s passion is sharing knowledge and experiences. At ifu Hamburg – member of the iPoint Group, she’s been accompanying businesses on the journey to Sustainble production. As a German delegate she contributes to the development of international standards of the ISO 14 000 series including, ISO 14051, ISO/TS 14067, ISO/TS 14071, ISO/TS 14072 etc.

Masahiko Hirao

Japan

Masahiko is a professor of department of chemical systems engineering at The University of Tokyo. He is the Chairman of the Institute of Life Cycle Assessment, Japan, an academic society for LCA researchers, and the chair of the Green Purchasing Network (GPN), Japan, an NPO for promoting green purchasing and procurement founded in 1996 with 2400 members. He is also a member of multi-stakeholder advisory committee of the UNEP-10YFP Consumer Information Programme for Sustainable Consumption and Production. He holds a PhD in chemical engineering from The University of Tokyo. His current research interests are sustainable chemical process and product design, sustainable social system design such as recycling systems based on life cycle assessment, and consumer support for life cycle thinking.

Pia Wiche

Pia is a consultant, professor and researcher in the areas of sustainable management and production. Pia has worked with UNEP and several research institutions for the development and deployment of life cycle thinking in different sectors. With an M.Sc. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from KAUST (Saudi Arabia) and a certificate in entrepreneurship from Cornell, Pia enjoys promoting new businesses and proposing new, sustainable business models that will create more value for the advance of society.

Yuki Hamilton Onda Kabe

Brazil

Yuki is a Chemical Engineer by training and a sustainability professional by choice who works as the in-house LCM expert at Braskem, largest petrochemical company in Latin America with headquarters in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Yuki studied chemical engineering at the University of Sao Paolo, Brazil with a specialization in environmental impact of fertilizer and life cycle assessment.

ISO-logoThe International Standards Organisation (ISO) has been invited to provide an additional perspective to the Board of Directors. Philippe Osset has been nominated by ISO TC 207 / SC 5 to represent ISO at the Board of Directors. ISO TC 207 / SC 5 is ISO’s Committee on Environmental Management and is responsible for setting all ISO life cycle standards such as the ISO 14040 series.
