Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

With the last newsletter of the year, it is also time to look back at some of the highlights and milestones of this year. 2017 was a great year for the FSLCI. Among many other activities we organized our first industry-focussed workshop, hired our first ever employee and launched the Medellin Declaration on Marine Litter in Life Cycle Assessment and Management. We were also present at nearly all major life cycle conferences around the world – often not only with our booth, but with talks and sessions organized by us.

None of this would have been possible without the support by our members and partners who supported us throughout the year. And while 2017 has been a major step forward, 2018 will open another new and exciting chapter for us, especially in view of our LCIC coming up in August 2018! Before we however start into the new year, we would like to wish those of you who celebrate a Merry Christmas and to all of you Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!

Life Cycle Innovation Conference

We are very happy to announce today that we will host our first independently organized conference in 2018: The Life Cycle Innovation Conference (LCIC 2018). Much in line with our objective to promote sustainable innovation through the application of a life cycle perspective, the LCIC’s focus on innovation will be the prominent differentiator from other conferences around the world.

We will not only put a focus on innovation with regards to sessions titles and abstracts, but also with regards to the conference itself. To this end we will bridge between the traditional abstract-based session system and other formats that allow for more spontaneous contributions by applying for example barcamp-style sessions.

Public Newsletter 1 / 2016 | Sent on: 13.07.2016

Dear all,

We hope we find you well. First of all, thank you very much for your interest in the FSLCI. This is the first edition of our public newsletter. We are going to send out three to four public newsletters per year and look forward to sharing some interesting news with you.

Today we are starting with a few big announcements: We are joining ISO TC 207 / SC5 as a Liaison Member! Also, we are introducing new membership levels for non-profits and we have developed a directory for research groups. Read on to learn more!

Kind regards,
Jim, Guido and Philip

P.S. Did you know that you can post your news on our website? Simply fill out this form!

  1. FSLCI Joins ISO TC 207 / SC5

FSLCI Joins ISO TC 207 / SC5

Today we are very happy to be able to inform you that the FSLCI has recently been accepted to become a liaison member of ISO TC 207 SC5 – the committee that deals with everything related to life cycle standards. In line with standard ISO guidelines, we will soon set up a specific FSLCI Committee dedicated to the involvement of our members in ISO processes.

Public Member Directory

We would like to inform you that we have recently launched our public member directory! The decision to go public with our member directory is very much in line with our goal to help our members better connect among each other, but also with the life cycle community at large. Please note, while our members have access to everyone’s full profile, whether or not a profile and its fields are available to the public is up to our members.

New Non-Profit Membership Levels

In addition to our already existing membership levels for companies, we are happy to inform you that our Board of Directors recently decided to introduce a new membership category that is focused on non-profit organisations. The membership category has been set-up especially with research groups in mind, but is open to all non-profit organisations. Non-profit memberships are available in three different levels, which only differ by the number of included personal accounts. Review our new memberships for non-profits here!

Research Group Directory

We would like to inform you that we have developed a directory for research groups/institutes. We invite any research group to submit their information to be listed in the directory. The core idea is to provide students and researches with a better overview, who is actually doing research and or teaching life cycle methodologies. Much like with our member directory, our directory for research groups is build around a geographical map which lists all groups that have submitted their data.

FSLCI at Conferences around the World

While the summer break is coming closer, we look forward to a number of conferences in the second half of the year. We will be present at various conferences around the world with our small booth, presentations and a number of our members. Visit us for example here:

20. – 22.09 | SETAC Europe LCA Case Study Symposium 2016 in Montpellier, France
27. – 29.09 | LCA XVI in Charleston, USA

17. – 18.10. | ILCM 2016 in New Delhi, India
19. – 21.10. | LCA Food in Dublin, Ireland

Also, did you know? As part of our services for our members, FSLCI members can indicate their presence at conferences around the world on our global events calendar, thus supercharge their networking!
