Website Forum for Sustainability through Life Cycle Innovation e.V.

We are looking for a passionate intern that is interested in global sustainability from a systems perspective.

What we do

The FSLCI is a global community organization in the field of life cycle thinking / product sustainability. We promote the application of a life cycle thinking to make better decisions about sustainability questions.

How we do it

We are a truly international organization with around 200 members around the world. We organize workshops, summer schools, webinars and other events around life cycle thinking and offer a global information hub with a jobs market and events calendar for the global life cycle community.

Why we do it

Even though sustainability has become somewhat of a mega-trend over the past few years, few decision-makers in politics and industry understand well how to actually assess sustainability impacts properly. Too often people focus on one indicator (e.g. climate) or one life cycle phase (e.g. production), but sustainability impacts occur throughout all life cycle phases and over all sustainability indicators. With the backing of the life cycle community, we seek to change the way decision-makers think about sustainability. And thereby help them be best informed when they make their decisions.

What are we looking for in you

We are a global, yet very small organization. We are spontaneous, flexible, and at the same time highly driven and passionate about what we do. We are open for new ideas and value different opinions and viewpoints. We are looking for someone that is

  • passionate about our mission and vision,
  • has a proactive mindset,
  • is ready to take on responsibilities and tasks,
  • likes to work in a team,
  • has a cheerful and positive personality,
  • values intercultural communication,
  • can work independently and take initiative.

Most importantly, you should

  • enjoy interacting and communicating with people,
  • have a keen eye for detail,
  • love thinking outside of the box and be creative,
  • be able to self-motivate yourself without constant supervision,
  • take initiative and make your own decisions.

What tasks you would have

Our day-to-day business operations are carried out by our Managing Director – our only full-time employee who is supported by volunteers from around the world. Your tasks during the internship would vary a lot and thus the internship would provide you with a great way to look into different fields such as communication, PR, project management and event planning. We are based out of a really nice co-working space in Berlin (the wonderful Machwerk) and thus you would also get access to a great community of other awesome social and sustainability initiatives.

Key tasks could include:

  • writing / posting content for our website (jobs / events / news)
  • managing of our social media presences
  • interaction with and management of our online community
  • assisting with event management and planning
  • drafting of workshop reports

Optional tasks include:

  • assisting with project management
  • developing new project proposals

The internship requires a minimum of 3 months but could be longer and we are a bit flexibel in terms of starting date, though Mid-February is preferred. Applicants have to be currently enrolled in a university program.

What you get from joining us

We are here to support your learning and offer you invaluable real-life experience in an interesting and international environment. We can’t compete with the big companies on salary or lunch specials (we offer a compensation of 500€ / month during the internship), but we will make sure that you have the freedom to try out new things with the guidance needed to make them happen!

Join us if you want more creative freedom, opportunity and responsibility than in any other role. Join us if you’re willing to say yes to things even if you’re not sure how to do it! We might throw you into cold water and challenge you to try new things, but we will make sure that you will be able to swim and conquer any challenges 🙂

We are a small non-profit run like a start-up – hence our resources are precious and we’re constantly asked to make magic with what we’ve got! We promise that what you learn and create with us will stay with you forever.

Sounds good? Then join us!

How to apply

Please use our form to tell us about yourself – why you are applying for the position, what you’d like to bring to the FSLCI, and tell us about anything you think is relevant. Include a CV, and if you like record a little (one minute) video of yourself, to briefly introduce yourself – no fancy editing needed, just hit record on your phone camera and send away.

Applications should be made in English, and submitted via the application form that you can access below 🙂

Duration:
3 months
