We recently hosted our final ๐๐ป๐ป๐ผ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ซ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐ฒ of the year, bringing together the FSLCI community to discuss the ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐น ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐ ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ (๐๐ฃ๐ฃ) and what it means for LCA.
The discussion made clear: while the DPP has the potential to transform sustainability data, significant challenges remain โ especially for the LCA community.

A major concern was how to align different Life Cycle approaches โ including PEF, ISO standards, and EPDs โ across product sectors. The European Commissionโs plan to develop its own LCA database (expected around 2027) raised questions about interaction with existing commercial databases. Participants warned that companies could face double reporting obligations and noted the currently limited collaboration between public institutions and established database providers.🔐 ๐ง๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ ๐๐. ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐ณ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐น๐ถ๐๐
While the DPP aims to increase transparency, participants noted that manufacturers remain cautious about sharing detailed lifecycle inventory data. SMEs were identified as particularly vulnerable if required to deliver data in multiple formats for different regulations and regions.
