Event Details
DTU Sustain has introduced a new PhD course focused on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Modelling of Solid Waste Systems, combining online self-study with an in-person workshop at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) from June 9-13, 2025.
The course is designed as a flipped classroom, where participants first complete an online module covering waste technologies, modelling approaches, and the basics of EASETECH, a key LCA software. Those unfamiliar with LCA can also access optional lectures on impact assessment. The in-person session will then provide hands-on experience through case studies, group work, and discussions on critical LCA aspects such as mass flow balancing, system interactions, data uncertainty, and result interpretation.
A major highlight of the course is that participants will receive ongoing access to EASETECH, enabling them to apply their new skills beyond the classroom. The program aims to equip PhD students and professionals with practical tools to assess and optimize waste management systems using LCA methodologies.
The course fee is €250 for PhD students, covering materials, lunches, and refreshments, while non-academics can join for €2500. Spaces are limited, and applications are now open.
