Event Details

Transition LCA is a new methodological framework published in 2022. This framework is based on the observation that product LCAs cannot be used to make decisions at territorial scales. This new framework should enable prospective LCAs to be carried out on the scale of a system of several products (linked to each other by coupling LCA and MFA), with the possible functional variations (in quantity and nature), in a consequential approach (it is the effects of the changes that are studied), anchored in a specific territory (its legislative context, its deposits, its markets…), by fully introducing the actors of the changes to the method. It offers the stakeholders involved a strategic analysis of the environmental effects and services offered, and can serve as a basis for negotiation between them on the changes they envisage. This framework is not yet operational, so a number of research developments are needed and will be presented.
