Personal Profile
Mary Ann Curran is an internationally-recognized expert in Life Cycle Assessment. As an early leader in the field, she has developed an in-depth knowledge of LCA practice and created an extensive network of LCA researchers and practitioners world-wide. Until 2013, Mary Ann worked in the US EPA’s Office of Research Development; her activities included the development of LCA methodology, promoting LCA within the agency in meeting its goals, the review of life-cycle case studies, planning life-cycle workshops and conferences, and the development of life cycle data and resources. She currently serves as editor-in-chief of Springer’s International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment. As co-owner of her consulting company, BAMAC, Ltd, she offers her knowledge and experience to clients conducting LCAs. Mary Ann has authored and co-authored numerous papers and book chapters which address the LCA concept and its applications. Her more recent projects include the LCA Handbook (2012) and the LCA Compendium book series (the first volume was published in 2014). Mary Ann has a PhD from Erasmus University in the Netherlands, a Masters from Lund University in Sweden and Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in the US.
