From 28 August to 1 September the FSLCI organized the 8th International Summer School on Life Cycle Approaches to Sustainable Regional Development, which was supported and hosted by ESCP Europe in Berlin, Germany.
30 students and 20 lecturers from all over the world came together to engage over 4,5 days in discussion on this year’s theme: “Life Cycle Toolbox for Regional Circular Economies” which reflected on the emergence of circular economy as a fast-growing regional issue in on-going sustainability dialogue.
During the Summer School a wider application of life cycle tools to enable a more holistic treatment of the circular economy’s contribution to regional sustainability was discussed from various perspectives. The emphasis was on optimizing materials flows, increasing resource efficiency, changing consumption patterns, and evolving waste management practices towards recycling and waste recovery. The full program can be viewed here.
We would like to thank all our students and lecturers for their active participation in our Summer School! A full report on the Summer School will be published in due course.
