Today we are thrilled to announce that Prof. Dr. Dirk Messner, President of the German Environment Agency as well as Dr. Janez Potočnik, Co-Chair of the International Resource Panel, will join LCIC 2022 as keynote speakers!
Prof. Dr. Dirk Messner is President of the German Environment Agency since 2020. He is an internationally recognized expert on globalization / global governance, transformation pathways to sustainability, decarbonization of the global economy, sustainability and digital change, and international cooperation and societal change. He will provide the keynote on “Implementing Sustainable Innovation through Digitalization”.
Dr. Janez Potočnik serves as the Co-Chair of UN Environment’s International Resource Panel since 2014 and currently works as a partner at SYSTEMIQ. He is a renowned expert in resource management, economics and the circular economy. He joined the European Commission in 2014, first as ‘shadow’ Commissioner for Enlargement and then as Commissioner responsible for Science and Research. In 2010 he became Commissioner for Environment. Dr. Potočnik graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He will provide the keynote on “Applying Systems Thinking to guide the transition towards a regenerative Circular Economy”.
