Geopolitical-related supply risk assessment as a new resource indicator to complement environmental impact assessment in Life Cycle Assessment

We observed a methodological gap for assessing impacts within the Area of Protection (AoP) Natural Resources in LCA with regard to concerns about the accessibility to raw materials. Therefore, we have developed a method that allows integrating geopolitical-related supply risk as a complement to environmental LCA addressing abiotic resources accessibility.

The webinar presents the GeoPolRisk method with a case study and introduces the latest developments, including a supporting Python tool that can be used to calculate characterization factors for use in LCA or to carry out a comparative risk assessment. Advancements and limitations of the the recent developments are critically reflected.
