Right ahead of LCIC 2018, from 25 – 28 August, the FSLCI organized the 7th iteration of the International Summer School on Life Cycle Approaches for Sustainable Regional Development jointly with the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research, UFZ. The Summer School convened 11 international students for 4 intense days of exchanges and learnings under the theme “Life cycle tool box for bio-economy initiatives”.
The Summer School addressed the growing interest in bio-economy policies as a means of promoting circular economies at regional level. In particular, it examined the influential role of life cycle methodologies in promoting a bio-economy in a holistic fashion, without producing unwanted side-effects on other societal goals such as social fabric, environment, biodiversity, industry and energy, for example.
We would like to thank all students and lecturers for their contributions and engagement, which made the Summer School a really great experience for everyone involved. We are already looking forward to next year’s edition of our Summer School!
