Webinar Presenters & Description
Dr. Alberto Bezama
Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research – UFZ
Researcher and Working Group Leader of the Group on “Systems Analysis of the Bioeconomy”
The transformation towards a bio-based economy will need the support of all relevant actors in the society. Indeed, the estimated intensification of biomass resources use will affect the environment, markets and society in general. Within this new context, the current LCA tools cannot cover all aspects that should be considered for making decisions in the implementation of new bio-based technologies and/or the fostering of new bio-based products in the markets.
Goal of this webinar is to present the bioeconomy as a relevant transitional process for the management of regional natural resources, and to show the potential alternatives for life-cycle-based tools that could be used by regional managers and decision makers to estimate environmental, social and economic impacts associated to the intended management of these resources.
