Tools for mapping the chemical footprint of companies are typically based on safety and risk management, but miss the aspect of total chemical load and impact potential, here referred to as Chemical Footprint. Life cycle impact assessment methods for characterizing toxicity impacts of chemicals, e.g. USEtox, ProScale and USES-LCA could be applied as a way to calculate Chemical Footprints and aid organisations in reducing their chemical load.
This study illustrates the organizational Chemical Footprint approach method in a real company setting to evaluate its usefulness for this new approach to chemical management. We have chosen the ProScale method to be applied to a selected chemical portfolio at the case study company, and the presentation will show results form the study as well as discuss the usefulness of the organizational chemical footprint concept to advanced chemical management.
