Workshop 05: Building regional models for heavy industries – How to guide and future network
Workshop Chair: Raoul Meys
Workshop Description:
More regional life cycle assessment databases are significant for providing actionable data to many different industries and identifying relevant regional hot-spots of environmental impacts. Furthermore, more regionalized life cycle assessment databases can track the transition to a more sustainable future and support policy decisions.
In the workshop, the participants will be introduced to the cm.chemicals database methodology. This database offers a comprehensive regional model of petrochemical supply chains. As a result, the participants will be able to name and understand the general requirements for regional life cycle assessment databases. In an additional brainstorming, participants will discuss potential data sources to enable more regional assessments of other heavy industries, e.g., steel, cement, or oil. Finally, participants should discuss potential next steps.
